Overview
1.2738 tool steel is pre-hardened plastic mold steel.
1.2738 steel using advanced die steel refining technology for the vacuum melting of Cr-Ni-Mo alloy steel.
The steel has excellent polishing and photo etching flower performance; excellent workability; good wear resistance; uniform hardness of large molds, dense tissue; no quench cracking and heat treatment deformation risk, without heat treatment, shorten the mold making cycle; good Surface nitriding performance; can be surface flame hardening treatment to enhance the mold surface hardness and wear resistance.
Mold before quenching, must be fully softened annealing. After quenching should be tempered, slow heating.
After EDM EDM, should be a small current, high frequency, so as not to damage the mold. After discharge, the mold surface should be ground to remove the "spark white layer" and then tempered at 500 ° C to remove the stress.
Tempering of the mold after grinding process, in order to prevent grinding cracks and surface softening, we should pay attention to: full cooling; grinding pressure appropriate; processing technology is reasonable.
The steel pre-hardened steel has good polishing properties and is usually polished with alumina or gypsum. The first is the rough throw, and then use more and more fine abrasive polishing, abrasive polishing for each change direction, the final polishing time should not be too long, otherwise it will affect the mold surface roughness.
Nitriding can increase the mold surface hardness, improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Although the steel has been pre-hardened, but can still heat treatment to improve the hardness.
